Make Shift Happen is a quarterly event hosted by MassBio focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). During each event, our Sr. Director of DEI and Workforce Development, Warner Santiago, is joined by different guests to discuss the topics that will advance the broad spectrum of DEI in the life sciences industry and beyond. In this case, the topic at hand will be "The Importance of Clinical Trial Diversity."
 

Indeed, different people may have different reactions to the same treatment based on their age, gender, weight, race, ethnicity, and other factors. By including people from diverse backgrounds, clinical trials can show if the treatments are safe and work well for people from different communities. Shifting the paradigm will likely require substantial cross-stakeholder commitment and collaboration.
